A little about me…

I was born in the mountains of Tennessee more years ago than I care to admit.

My interest in photography and in writing began when I was quite small, while looking at the stockpiles of National Geographic magazines that my parents kept. Most girls dream of their wedding day– I dreamed of becoming a roving photojournalist for National Geographic.

My interest in photography and in the arts in general is varied, and my goal with photography isn’t just to take ‘pretty pictures.’ Anyone can take a pretty photograph. My goal is to capture the beauty, the life, and the quirky things that surround our everyday life. Beauty is everywhere, if people would just open their eyes to see it.

In this incarnation, I have been a Sailor in the United States Navy (Beat Army!), a Surgical Technician specializing in Ophthalmic Surgery, managed a marina, worked a series of nominal dead-end jobs looking for something that was the right ‘fit’, and have developed a fondness for pubs, Jimmy Buffett and Great Big Sea, and cemeteries over the years.

I have lived near Emerald Isle in beautiful North Carolina for just over 8 years and while my feet often ‘itch,’ and “Where are you going this time?” are words that I often hear, there is only one other place that I would rather call home– and I’m not going to tell you where that is. I’m quite content to live for now in my beautiful Carolina.
